Emla Cream 5% is a topical anaesthetic used to numb the surface of a body part. This cream is often used to numb the skin before an injection, wound repair, minor eyelid surgery and more.

How does Emla Cream 5% work?

When you apply the local anaesthesia on your skin, it will temporarily numb the area superficially. It’s important to know that it only numbs the first layer of your skin. The cream doesn’t target pressure pains. That means that annoying pain you have in the ball of your feet can’t be eliminated with this numbing cream.

How to use the Emla Numbing Cream?

1. Apply 2.5 grams of cream on your skin
2. Cover the cream with a plastic wrap.
3. Let simmer for 60 minutes.
4. Unwrap your feet.
5. Wipe clean your feet.

Does the Emla Numbing Cream Really work?

The Emla Cream 5% does numb the surface of your skin. The strap that lays above my toes gives my feet a pinching feeling. But with the numbing cream, that area felt less sensitive than usual. This numbing cream wasn’t strong enough to eliminate the pain in the ball of my feet. After all the leaflet already disclaimed that it doesn’t take away the feeling of pressure. Which is a relieve to know, because you need to at least feel your feet when walking.

Do You recommend Emla Numbing Cream?

I only recommend Emla Numbing Cream if you are in a situation that you must wear uncomfortable heels. Like, let’s say you are a bridesmaid and the bride decided what heels you have to wear. And those heels are extremely uncomfortable and you have to wear them all day.
